My work unfolds in the encounter
of hand with matter. I am interested
in the play of imaginal forms as they
emerge in time. I want each piece
to carry the idea of incarnation
the fall of spirit into matter
and to allude to the sense of inner,
not optical, sight, as well as touch.
Nine Days in March, a suite of drawings.
Mixed media with seaweed, ink
and blackboard paint on Arches 88.
This series of drawings comes out of a
desire to work in a diaristic and field journal
mode. Its purpose is to remember
and to consecrate each day. I am influenced
by Asian brush painting which I studied,
all-too-briefly, in Hangzhou, in 2001.
